He had been ailing for a long time, vainly seeking health by a change of location and of treatment. Mr. Clark was born in Berkshire, V., September 8, 1830, moved afterwards (1840)with his parents to Wisconsin, in 1859 went to Colorado and in 1872 to Albion, this state when he had made his residence ever since. In the early days of Boone county he practiced law and dealt in real estate. In 1872 he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Rice of this city. Twice he was elected (state)representative of Boone county - in 1874 and 1876. In 1879 he accepted an appointment in the revenue service. In 1881 he was a candidate for state treasurer and was a delegate from the Third congressional district to the national Republican convention at Minneapolis in 1886. Mr. Clark has always taken a lively interest in the business welfare of his town, county and state and they will all feel the loss of an able, wide-awake citizen. "Three years ago" says the Albion Argus, "Mr. Clark was stricken with cancer of the stomach. His funeral and burial was held Wednesday afternoon at Battle Creek, Mich., the condition of his body being such it was thought best not to ship him back to Albion, but sometime in the future, in all probability, his remains will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery, where loving hearts and hands can watch over his last resting place.
