      WATER SPOUT CAUSED DEATH OF ALLIANCE MAN

Brakeman N. R. Massie, Knocked From Top of His
Train, Was Cut to Pieces by Wheels.

Alliance, Neb., Nov 7-- N. R. Massie, a brakeman
on freight train No. 46, last night was knocked down
between the cars and killed at Hecla, a station a
few miles east of here. Through the negligence of
some fireman on a train which had passed through
Hecla shortly before and had left the spout from 
the water tank hanging down, Massie, who was 
standing on the top of the train was struck by the
spout and knocked down between the cars. The train
had traveled several hundred yards before he was
missed and when found he was cut to pieces. Massie's
body was brought to Alliance on passenger train
No. 43 this morning.
