His father, Anders Peter Anderson, who was a pioneer in Burt County, Nebraska, was born at Westphalia, Sweden, May 21, 1833, and died at Oakland, Nebraska, May 23, 1889; he was prominent in church and school affairs at Oakland for many years. His mother, Sarah Gertrude (Adolphdotte) Anderson, who was a leader in the Baptist Church, was born at Mortala, Sweden, in 1833, and died at Oakland, August 19, 1917. Mr. Anderson completed the eighth grade school and later was a student at Fremont Normal School where he studied commercial subjects. He has cared for the home farm and for the past 20 years has been a merchant at Bristow, and recently served as postmaster there. He is a member of the Yeoman Lodge at Bristow, has served as a member of the school board for 20 years, and is a member of the Commercial Club. During his residence at Oakland he was a member of the school board and the Young Men’s Christian Association, and during the World War he was local chairman of the Red Cross, assisting in various loan drives. He is affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church and is acting superintendent of the Sunday School. His marriage to Ollie Sofia Blomquist occurred at Oakland, October 28, 1897. Mrs. Anderson was born in Sweden. They have two children: Francis, born July 16, 1898, who is manager of the Farmers Co-operative Oil Company of Boyd County; and Florence, an adopted daughter, who married Lyle Webster.
