G. Ball, Kearney Civil War Veteran Dies; Only 2 Remain Kearney, Neb., Feb 2 -- (AP)--J. G. Ball, 92, one of Kearney's last three Civil war veterans, died at a hospital here Wednesday night. Ball enlisted Feb 9, 1865 at Bureau county, Ill. He came to Kearney in February, 1879, and farmed until his retirement 20 years ago. Eight children, 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive. J. W. Wiley and James Travelpiece are the surviving veterans. Additional Comments: Civil War Pension Index John G.
