The Nebraska State Journal Fri Dec 24, 1875 December 24, 1875

Jordan P. Smith, the man convicted of the murder
of M. H. Collins at Kearney was yesterday brought
to this city and placed in our jail for safe 
keeping. The jail at Kearney is not regarded as
secure, and Texas herders are not regarded as the
most law abiding persons in the country.
