           Kearney, Dec 17
  The Texas herder, Jordan P. Smith, who shot and
killed M. M. Collins, near this place, in September
last, was today found guilty of murder in the first
degree, and sentenced to be hanged on the 7th of
April, 1876. When sentence was pronounced the prisoner
never flinched, exhibitinng the stolid nerve of an ox.
