Davies, who died at Kearney on February 2, and whose funeral was held on Wednesday last, was born at Hamilton, Ohio, October 1814. She was married December 12, 1833, to Elliott Davies. They resided several years in Illinois, moving there in 1856 and from there went to Kansas in 1876 moving to Kearney in 1891. They had twelve children, seven daughters and five sons, eight of whom survive Mrs. Davies. Of these, two sons, Elliott and James, live at Emporia, Kansas. Of her six daughters, Mrs. Sarah A. Vance, at whose home she died, lives in Kearney, Mrs. Eva Jayne, at Axtell, Mrs. Mary A. Jewett, at Kansas City, Mo, Mrs. Ella Sonnedecker of Emporia, Kansas and Mrs. Laura Cutter and Mrs Josephine Crawford, at Carthage, Mo. Mrs. Davies was aged eighty-two years and three months at death, and for ten years had been unable to get away from the house. Although thus closely confined to her home there was never one who was more cheerful and enjoyed life more.
