Dowers, age 86, of Kearney, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at St. John’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Funeral Services will be Friday, March 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with Pastor Gary Main officiating. Burial will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services. Beulah was born Jan. 5, 1924 in Farwell to Charles and Florence Mabel (Bangert) Petersen. She attended Farwell Schools through the 10th grade when the family moved to Kearney. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation Beulah married Calvin Alderman. She worked at Kearney Laundry and Dry Cleaning and also at Baldwins. Beulah married Stanton Dowers on Oct. 20, 1957 in Kearney. The couple owned and operated Dower Sign Service for a number of years. Stanton died Jan. 20, 1990. Beulah was a member of First United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and dog Toby, especially attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Beulah also enjoyed bingo, attending stock car races, collecting dolls and numerous crafts. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Sandra McFarland of Lexington; grandchildren Tammie (Steve) Hinrichs of Kearney, Charles (Kelli) Burkey of Lexington, Robyn Lange of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Brandie, Hunter, Kris, Jennifer, Jessica, Curtis and Nikkia; great-great-grandchildren, Dylan and Elexa and a sister-in-law, Erma Petersen of Kearney. Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Stanton; two brothers; one great- granddaughter, one sister-in-law and one son-in-law.
