Andrew Amundson was born at Occonomonoc, Wisconsin, of American descent for several generations, and engaged in the mercantile business in Cedar County for many years prior to his death on March 28, 1928. His wife, Margaret, was a native of Illinois, whose family was of early American stock. Educated in the public and high schools of Hartington, after finishing school he entered the business established by his father, which he has since owned and operated. The business was established in 1886, the first general merchandise store in Hartington. He is a Republican, During the World War he served eighteen months in the United States Army and is a member of the American Legion, A Catholic, he is a member of the local church, as well as the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and the Country Club, He is fond of golf and enjoys reading. Mr. Amundson was married to Alice Loretia Griffin at Des Moines, Iowa, June 8, 1931. Residence: Hartington.
