Arens, a lifetime resident of Nebraska, has been engaged in farming in Cedar County for many years. He was born at Bow Valley, Nebraska, May 4, 1881, the son of Theresa (Klienker) Arens, and Frank John Arens. His father was born at Westphalia, Germany, December 21, 1856, and his mother was born there May 21, 1858. Mr. Arens is interested in civic affairs and is now serving as treasurer of the local school board, is president of the Cedar County Fair Association, and secretary of the Farmers Union at Hartington. He is affiliated with Holy Trinity Catholic Church, is a member of The Nebraskana Society, and is a Democrat. On November 26, 1907, he was united in marriage with Clara Sarah Schulte at Bow Valley. Mrs. Arens, whose parents were farmers, was born at Fordyce, Nebraska, July 21, 1888, of German descent. Their children are: Caroline, born December 20, 1908; Arthur, born June 29, 1911; Elizabeth, born January 24, 1916; Evelyn, born May 4, 1918; and Jerome Schulte, born December 8, 1916, who is adopted. Residence: Hartington.
