MARIA BENGSTON PIONEER CEDAR COUNTY IS BURIED SATURDAY AT OBERT Obert - Mrs. Maria Bengston, pioneer Cedar County settler, was buried here Saturday following funeral services held at our Savior Lutheran church, Rev. F.L. Faulk, church pastor officiated. A large crowd gathered to pay final respects to the longtime Cedar county resident. OBITUARY Maria Anderson was born in Beted, Varmland, Sweden, on October 1, 1860, she immigrated to America in the spring of 1882. On July 25,1883 she was united in marriage at St. Helena with Andrew Bengston and then moved to their homestead, located two miles south of the present site of Obert. There she resided until July 6, 1937, when she was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ludvig Nedergaard, in Obert, due to illness. She died early Thursday, December 15, at the age of 78. In infancy whe was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran church. She was a member of the Lime Creek Lutheran church and a charter member of the Ladies Aid society of that church. Upon the merger of two congregations in that parish, she was transferred to Our Saviors Lutheran church in Obert where she took an active part as a member. After 40 years of service she was placed upon the honor roll of the Ladies Aid during 1933. Her husband preceded her in death, January 30, 1924. She is survived by one son, Albert, three daughters, Mrs. Emmanuel Stolpe, Mrs. Ludwig Stolpe and Mrs. Ludvig Nedergaard, all of Obert; one brother and two sisters, all residing in Sweden. She also leaves 18 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
