This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Kristi Bergman Lam Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== THE CEDAR COUNTY NEWS - JUNE 22, 1939 CAROLINE BOECKMAN 83, DIES IN FORDYCE CAME TO CEDAR COUNTY FROM GERMANY IN 1867; BURIED MONDAY After 72 years residence in America and Cedar county, Mrs. Caroline Boeckman, 83 died at her house in Fordyce Friday night June 16, at nine o'clock. She had been ill six months. Born in Oldenburg, Germany, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Berand Eichmann. In 1868 she was married to Henry Boeckmann, at St. Helena. Her husband died July 2, 1930. Nine children and one sister survive. The children are John, Fordyce, Barney, Wessington Springs, SD., August, Mitchell, SD., Mrs. Charles Belle, St. Helena, Mrs. Steve Schulte, Orient, SD., Mrs. Carl Parnell, Mitchell, SD., Mrs. Charles Haas, yankton and Miss Theresa at home. Mrs. Boeckman resided on a farm near St. Helena until 1917 when she and her husband moved to Fordyce where the Boeckman home has been since that time. Funeral Services were Monday morning at nine o'clock from St. John's Catholic Church in Fordyce, of which Mrs. Boeckman was a devout member. The Rev. Daniel Reifenrath officiated. Burial was in St. John, the Baptist cemetery. Pallbearers included John Bushcelman, Raymond Walters, Joseph Schumacher, Otto Phillips, Joseph Wielbelhaus and John Noecker.
