Visitation was Oct. 25 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. A vigil service was held later that evening at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wynot. Mass of Christian Burial was Oct. 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wynot, with Rev. Jay Kruse and Rev. Carl Salanitro officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wynot. Pallbearers were Tom Peitz, Darrell Peitz, Richard Boeckman, Pam Bruning, Brad Boeckman, Lori Donner, Bob Boeckman and Barb Strivens. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren. Rose was born March 13, 1900, to Anton and Agnes (Eickhoff) Hesse in Bow Valley. She married Fred Boeckman May 25, 1920, in Bow Valley. He died Sept 1, 1984. Rose grew up in the Bow Valley area and received her teaching certificate from Wayne State College. She taught school in Cedar County for several years. She and her husband farmed in the St. Helena area until moving to Wynot in l957. She worked in the Wynot School Cafeteria for many years. She was a member of Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America. She loved to play cards. Survivors include four children and spouses: Sylvia Peitz, Hartington, Jerome and Zita Boeckman, Wynot; Jimmy and Joyce Boeckman, South Yankton; Rudy Boeckman, Wynot; 28 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; six brothers and six sisters; a son, Ralph Boeckman; two grandchildren, Steve Boeckman and Karen Stunden; and eight infant grandchildren.
