Bottolfsen died Sun. morning Mrs. Bertha Bottolfsen of Hartington died early Sunday morning at the Cedars nursing home here. Funeral services were held this afternoon (Wednesday) at 2:00 pm in the Trinity Lutheran Church here with Pastor Kenneth Franzen officiating. Arrangements were under direction of the Smith Wintz Funeral Home. Interment will be made in Paragon Cemetery northeast of Hartington, when road conditions permit. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29, 1969 - CEDAR COUNTY NEWS Mrs. B Bottolfsen was buried Feb 5, 1969. Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Bottolfsen were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington on Jan. 29 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Kenneth Franzen officiated. Interment was in the Paragon Cemetery Wednesday, Feb 5, at 10:00 a.m. with the Smith Wintz Funeral home in charge of the arrangements. Bertha C. Gearhart was born September 30, 1876 in Pittsburgh, PA., the daughter of Charles and Rosa Williams Gearhart. She moved with her parents to Ohio and in 1881 to Nebraska where she lived in the Lime Grove and Hartington communities. She received her education in schools of Nebraska and Kansas, where she also taught. She was married on July 6, 1904 to Magnus Bottolfsen and they resided on a farm east of Hartington their entire married life. She was an active member of Paragon Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran Churches in Hartington. She is survived by 2 daughters: Mrs. F.O. (Mary) Baird of Kerrville, Tex., and Mrs. Warren (Laura) Olsen of Desert Hot Springs, Calif; five sons: H. Arthur of Cucamonga, Calif.; Hugh of Hastings.; Herbert, Kenneth and Martin all of Hartington; 20 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren and one brother A.R. Gearhart of Paradise, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Magnus, in 1953 and a son, Owen, her parents and two sisters. Mrs. Bottolfsen died Sunday, January 26, at the Cedars nursing home in Hartington. (NOTE: Burial was delayed because of severe winter weather. The original obituary, as it appeared in the paper, stated that the funeral was on Jan. 26, when in fact she died on Jan. 26.)
