Bruening, 89, died Feb. 7, 2000, at Park View Haven Nursing Home, Colerdige. Visitation was Feb. 10 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 11 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. William Sanderson officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers were Duane Feilmeier, Kenny Feilmeier, Chuck Meirose, John Steffen, Chuck Kathol and Glenn Kathol. Honorary pallbearers were Edgar's neighbors and friends. Edgar was born Jan. 15, 1911, to Frank and Bernadina (Steffen) Bruening in Bow Valley. He grew up in Bow Valley and moved to Hartington in 1920. He was engaged in farming southeast of Hartington most of his life. He raised Poland-China hogs and received many awards over the years. Edgar had been a resident of Park View Haven Nursing Home since January 1997. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include a brother and spouse, Marcus and Rose Bruening, Hartington; a sister, Marcella Hoffart, Coleridge; four nephews and spouses, Larry and Joann Hoffart, Coleridge; Jerry and Jean HOffart, Hartington; Galen and Leslie Hoffart, Coleridge; and Randy and Rebecca Hoffart, Bastrop, Texas; a niece and spouse, Ruth and Hank Kusel, Riverton, Wyo; 16 great- nieces and nephews and 17 great-great nieces and nephews.
