Dempsay, Sr. COLERIDGE - Richard "Dick" E. Dempsay, Sr., 86, died August 13, 1999, Park View Nursing Home, Coleridge. Visitation was Aug. 15, 1999, at the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge. Funeral services were held Aug. 16, 1999, at Pilgrim Congregational U.C.C., Coleridge, with Rev. Gail Axen officiating. Burial was in the Coleridge City Cemetery, Coleridge. Pallbearers were Larry Murkle, Harold Craig, Dean Kiichler, Gerald Fischer, Leroy Dempsay, and Tracy Wich. Richard was born Aug. 5, 1913, to Theodore and Frances Emily (Doolin) Dempsay, in Pinckneyville, Ill. On Feb. 23, 1934, he married Freda Ann Stapelman in Winner, S.D. Richard moved with his parents to Nebraska at the age of five. He has lived most of his life in the Coleridge area. He attended schools in and near Coleridge. He was engaged in farming and other outside work. His main occupation was operating heavy duty equipment for Cedar County. Richard and Freda moved to Coleridge in 1951. Richard semi-retired in 1980. Richard's hobby was playing his music and music entertainment. He was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational U.C.C. in Coleridge. Survivors include: his wife, Freda, Coleridge; a daughter, Carol Rager, Aurora, Colo.; a son and spouse, Cliff and Darlene Dempsay, Lancaster, Calif.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step- grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Richard Jr., a grandson, Gene Rager; and four brothers, four sisters and a son in-law, Darrell Rager. Wednesday Aug. 18, 1999-CEDAR COUNTY NEWS
