This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== CEDAR COUNTY NEWS JULY 17, 1952 Roger Goeden Rites Tuesday Leukemia victim dies on Saturday Funeral services for Roger Goeden, sixteen, son of Mrs. Carl Goeden, who died Saturday at Sacred Heart Hospital after being ill since last September with leukemia, were held from Holy Trinity Church Tuesday morning with Reverend Clement Brock officiating. Burial was made in the St. Michael cemetery under the direction of the Wintz Mortuary. Pallbearers were Clarence Kast, Clarence McNally, Anthony Goeden, Don Goeden, Gene Wuebben and Charles Schulte. Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Beste, James Heimes, Kenneth Heimes, Morris Ketter Jr., Ralph Noecker and Norman Wuebben. Roger, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Goeden, was born in Menominee June 24, 1936. He moved with his parents to Missouri in 1937 and in 1942, returned to Cedar County to make their home at Wynot. He was struck with polio when he was six years old and after years of treatment was about restored to health when he was stricken with leukemia. He is survived by his mother, two sisters, Norma Jean and Alice Marie, and a brother, Richard, all at home at Hartington; a half-sister Mrs. Clarence Hoesing; and two half-brothers, Omar Goeden of Inglewood, Calif., and Bill Goeden of Westpoint.
