Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 25th at 2:00 pm at the Methodist Church in Wynot. A short service was held at the Wintz funeral home in Harting- ton at 1:30 pm. Pallbearers were Ignatius Schroder, Bill Bottolfsen, Fritz J. Pinkelman, Charles Newman, and Ray Bettenhausen, and Alfred Knoeppen. Samuel Jess Gregg was born March 20, 1892 at Vermillion SD, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam (Anna T. Lewis) Gregg. He came to Cedar County to the Wynot and Maskell areas in 1917 where he farmed. The last six years he resided in Hartington. He was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church. He married Myrtle Gray at Vermillion, SD February 24, 1915. Mrs. Gregg preceded him in death May 27, 1960. Survivors include her husband; seven sons, Willard and DeRoy, of Ponca, Wayne of Commerce City, Colo, Eldon of Lincoln, Rex of Hartington and Jesse Jr., and Merle of Seattle, WA.; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Sylvia) Nelson of Maskell, Mrs. Rex (Darlene) Ritter, of Lincoln, Mrs. Gene (Myrtle) Sieck of London, OH., and Mrs. Larry (June) Wells of Yankton. 33 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Four brothers, Clarence, Oder and John of Yankton, SD., and George of Seattle, WA., one sister, Goldie (Valentine) Shepardson of Kelso, WA. He was preceded in death by two sons, DeLoy Kale and an infant son, his parents and a brother Chelsey. MAY 1965 CEDAR COUNTY NEWS
