Thekla Dawat was born in Reichenberg, Bohemia, May 19, 1829 where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Franz Hirschman in 1848. In the year 1853, they immigrated to the U.S. and located in Milwaukee where they lived until 1862 when they moved to Mauston, Wisconsin. Ten years later they came to Nebraska and took up residence on the East Bow. In 1893, they became residents of this place (Hartington). Of 11 sons and one daughter, surviving: Henry, Julius, John, Anthony, Edward, Albert, Hugo, Caroline. Franz, her husband, passed away 3 years ago. 12 JANUARY 1900 HARTINGTON HERALD (CEDAR COUNTY NEWS)
