This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Kristi Bergman Lam Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== THE CEDAR COUNTY NEWS - JAN 2, 1952 MENOMINEE MAN DIES AFTER WRECK LEONARD HOESING FATALLY INJURED IN HIGHWAY CRASH Leonard Hoesing, 49, of Menominee received fatal injuries in a car- truck accident about 1 1/2 miles south of Yankton on Highway 81 in Cedar county about 9:10 pm December 23. Hoesing evidently drove his car over the center line as he was going north and collided with a truck operated by Chuck Woodman of Riverdale, Kans., according to patrolman Virgil Kaminski and Lee Hodtwalker of Randolph. Hoesing was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton by a Kabeisman- Nelson ambulance. He died there about half an hour later. Hoesing operated a grocery store at Menominee. He was a widower and is survived by two daughters, aged 12 and 10. Funeral services for Mr. Hoesing were held Friday monring at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee. Rev. Alfred Hoesing his brother, officiated at the solemn requiem mass assisted by Rev. Otto Zilling, deacon; Rev. Bernard Westerman, sub-deacon and Rev. Charles Broderson, master of ceremonies. Burial was in St. Rose of Lima cemetery under the direction of Kabesiman-Nelson Funeral Home of Yankton. Pallbearers were Leonard Kuchta, Norbert E. Kuchta, Theodore Schmidt, George C Kast, Anthony Goeden and Edward Schroder.
