Jansen, 74, died March 10, 2000, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Visitation was March 13 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. A vigil service was held later that evening at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee. Mass of Christain Burial was March 14 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Rev. Greg Benkowski officiating. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery, Menominee. Pallbearers were Stacey Hochstein, Mike Jansen, Chris Jansen, Cory Mines, Craig Jansen, Lance Heimes, Justin Jansen, Shane Jansen, Isaac Holcomb, Bradley Steffen and Jamie Arens. Honorary pallbearers were the Christians Mothers. Mary was born Nov. 9, 1925, to John and Wilhelmina (Wieseler) Feilmeier, in rural Hartington. She married Leonard C. Jansen Jan. 3, 1945, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington. Mary was raised on a farm in the Hartington area. She attended school at Holy Trinity, Hartington, through the eighth grade. Upon the death of her mother in 1941, she assisted raising her 13 brothers and sisters. Mary and Leonard lived and farmed in the Fordyce area where they raised 11 of their own children. She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee; Christian Mothers, Ladies Guild and Catholic Daughters of America, also Cursillo. Mary's love for her wonderful husband and her 11 children was only surpassed by her love for the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary will always be fondly remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her musical talents, including accordion and piano. Survivors include her husband, Leonard, Fordyce; 11 children and spouses, Doris and Gary Hochstein, Fordyce; Ken and Pat Jansen, Omaha; Delbert and Cathy Jansen, Waynetown, Ind.; Mavis and John Mines, Hartington; Melvin and Sharon Jansen, Menominee; Bette and Clayton Heimes, Wynot; John and Phyllis Jansen, Fordyce; Vernon and Charlotte Jansen, Crofton; Leonarda and Joe Arens, Crofton; Gail and Brian Holcomb, Coleridge; LuAnn and Mike Steffen, Laurel; 40 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her stepmother, Adeline Feilmeier, Hartington: 14 brothers and sisters, Marcella and Jerome Promes, Wynot; George and Loraine Feilmeier, Hartington; Leona (Potts) and Bob Petersen, Hartington; Leonard and Mary Lou Feilmeier, Tucson, Ariz.; Wilhelmina and Herbert Boecker, Bloomfield; Jerome and Eleanor Feilmeier, Hartington; Harold and Mary Gay Feilmeier, Hartington; Ann and Jay Walz, Hartington; Agnes and Daryl Hochstein, St. Helena; Alice Klug, Hartington; Charles and Bev Feilmeler, Hartington; Charleen and Dennis Meyer, Olathe, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents; three infant daughters, Arlene, Nadine and Rosemary; one grand-daughter, two great-grandchildren; a brother, John Feilmeier Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, Don Klug and Jim Potts.
