Keiter HARTINGTON - Joan R. Keiter, 68, died March 24, 1999, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Visitation was March 28 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was March 29, 1999, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. William Sanderson officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers were Vicky Pinkelman, Julie Hoesing, Alan Arens, Kevin Arens, Marvin Brummer and Ken Jensen. Joan was born August 14, 1930, to R.J. (Rudolph) and Mary (Suing) Hochstein, in Fordyce. She married Roman Keiter May 20, 1952, in Hartington. She grew up in the Fordyce area. After her marriage they farmed west of Hartington. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, and the Christian Mothers. She was a volunteer for the Head Start Program. Survivors include her husband, Roman Keiter, Hartington, five children, Pam Haidle, New Orleans, La.; Kay Holmes, Ponchatoula, La.; Lisa Reese, Tampa, Fla.; Scott Keiter, Hartington; Sherry Leise, Hartington; nine grandchildren; her mother, Mary Hochstein, Fordyce; seven sisters, Laverne Arens, Hartington; Noreen Goebel, Lincoln; Inez Halgerson, Madison, S.D.; Claudette Jensen, Hartington; Bernice Luehn, Audubon, Minn.; Jean Marie Schroeder, Lewiston, Idaho; Florence Maine, Chattaroy, Wash.; four brothers, Gerry Hochstein, Fordyce; Leon Hochstein, Yankton, S.D.; Roger Hochstein, Yankton, S.D.; and Glen Hochstein, Tucson, Ariz.
