ANNA KRUSE, 84, PASSES AWAY ON OLD HOMESTEAD SATURDAY Mrs. Anna Kruse, who had lived on the same farm in Bow Valley for 60 years, died on the old homestead Saturday morning after an illness of about two weeks. Despite her age, Mrs. Kruse had been active until lately. Mrs. Kruse, formerly Miss Anna Sudbeck, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sudbeck, was born in Oldenburg, Germany on Christmas day, 1844. In 1869 she was married to Henry Kruse and the same year the newlyweds, and the bride's parents and their family, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sudbeck, came to America coming at once to the Bow Valley Community where they took homesteads near each other. Mr. Kruse passed away about 38 years ago, and since that time, Mrs. Kruse has continued as head of the family, and director of its activities. She was a member of the Bow Valley Church, and in her more active years an ardent church worker. Mrs. Kruse is survived by six children, Henry, who lives near the old homestead, Frank at Crofton, August, Steve, Louis and Mary, all at home, by 15 grandchildren, four brothers and one sister. The brothers and sisters are Joe Sudbeck of Hartington, Herman, Steve, and Bernard Sudbeck of Bow Valley, and Sister Magdalene at the convent in York. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10:00 at St. Peter and Paul's at Bow Valley, with Rev. Father Anton Birnback officiating, and burial was in the Bow Valley cemetery by the side of her husband. Pallbearers were all nephews of Mrs. Kruse. William, Victor, and Bernard, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sudbeck of Hartington, and Herman, Paul, and Anton, sons of Mr.and Mrs. Steve Sudbeck of Bow Valley.
