This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== CEDAR COUNTY NEWS AUGUST 23, 1923 RESIDENT OF WYNOT DIES VERY SUDDENLY CHRISTOPHER LAWSON PASSES AWAY AT HIS HOME IN AN UNUSUAL MANNER Christopher Lawson, a resident of Cedar County for 39 years, passed away at his home in Wynot on Wednesday night of last week following a very short illness. He was formerly a resident of St. James, but when he retired from the farm, he moved to Wynot. That evening he had been up town, and came home complaining that he did not feel well. A doctor was called but it was believed that Mr. Lawson was not seriously ill. He insisted on making a will, however and shortly after he had sat up in bed to put his signature on the paper, he passed away. Mr. Lawson was born in Denmark in 1861, and was 62 years old at the time of his death. Upon coming to this country, he settled at once near St. James, and he was married there in 1884 to Miss Laura Wiseman, a daughter of Henson Wiseman, several members of the family had been murdered by Indians some time before. He is survived by his wife, six daughters, one brother and a sister. The daughters are: Mrs. Berta Preisler, Mrs. Wilard Guy, Mrs. George Bowder, Mrs. L.E. Radke and Miss Mary Lawson of Wynot and Mrs. Nels Benson, of Maskell. A brother John Lawson, lives in Vermillion and a sister Mrs. Nelson lives at Edison, NE. During his life, Mr. Lawson was a strong Lutheran, and was also a member of the Modern Woodman. The funeral was held last Saturday afternoon at Wynot. Rev. Aga, pastor of the Lutheran church there being in charge.
