Mueller MENOMINEE- John J. Mueller, 82, Menominee, died Oct. 27, 1998, at Sister James Nursing Home, Yankton, S.D. following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were Oct. 30, 1998 at Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee, with Rev. Greg Benkowski officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Smith, Mathew Kathol, Eric Mueller, Greg Mueller, Frank Smith, Doug Wieseler, and Jim McNeill. John was born Feb. 24, 1916, to John and Martha (Albrecht) Mueller, on a farm near St. Helena. He attended St. Boniface Grade School in Menominee and farmed for his father for several years. He married Caroline J. Tramp Sept. 30, 1941, in Menominee. They continued to farm for his father until they moved to a nearby farm in 1949. John was engaged in farming and involved in his community all his life. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball. He was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He served as St. Boniface Parish Council president and was a member of the Holy Name School Board for many years. His was also an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Yankton Knights of Columbus. He had served as director on the District 11 School Board until it was dissolved, and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Yankton Production Credit Association (PCA) for many years. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Cedar Knox Public Power REA for 32 years, retiring in 1997 due to ill health. Survivors include his wife Caroline, Menominee; two sons and their wives, Allan and Janice Mueller, Fordyce; John A. and Lois Mueller, Yankton, S.D.; seven daughters and their husbands, Sandra and Frank Smith, Minneapolis, Minn.; Judy and Ron Wieseler, Vermillion, S.D.; Deborah and Dan Hruza, Englewood, Colo.; Lynette and Roger Kohles, Lincoln; Rosemary and Glenn Kathol, Hartington; Cynthia and Gary Weiseler, Leigh; and Kristie and Matt Jarchow, Lincoln; 21 grand- children and 11 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Elizabeth Mueller, Fordyce; Laurine Mueller, and Rose Mueller, Yankton, S.D.; Esther Schulte, Downey, Calif. He was preceeded in death by his parents; his daughter, Diane, two brothers Edmund Mueller, and Henry Mueller, and two sisters, Julianna Beyer and Mary Mueller.
