Snowe Wynot NE. (Special) - Funeral services for Mrs. G.A. Snowe, 81 who died late Monday [April 2, 1956] after a long illness of cancer will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at the Methodist Church. Rev. T.W. Lee Will officiate. Funeral services from her home will be held at 1:30 pm. Mrs. Snowe was born to William and Mary Rebecca Cross Smith in South Dakota May 1, 1874 near the Iowa line at Portland, a trading post which has long since been out of existance. She came to Nebraska when she was about 10 years of age. On Sept. 4, 1894 she was united in marriage to John Adelbert Gray, son of Ed and Lorena Hamilton Gray at Vermillion, SD. He died September 11, 1901 in Yankton, SD. On May 30th, 1904 she was married to Gilbert A. Snowe at Hartington. They farmed for several years southeast of Wynot, then moved to Oelrichs, SD. They returned to Cedar County a year later and farmed near Obert for three years, then moved to Brookey Bottom and farmed until 1926 when they moved to Wynot where they have resided for the past thirty years. Burial will be in the Wynot City Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Willard Gregg, DeRoy Gregg, Eldon, Rex, Jesse and Merle Gregg, all grandsons. Surivivors include the husband, three sons, Frank of Wynot and Fred of Maskell, Earl Gray of Wynot and Mrs. Jess (Myrtle) Gregg of Hartington. Mrs. Gregg is seriously ill in a Yankton hospital. One sister, Mrs. Irvin (Mae) Warner of Wynot, two brothers, Reuben Smith, Vale, SD., and William Smith of Roseburg, Ore. Seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters, Freida Gray and Irene Snowe.
