Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wynot Monday morning. Rev. Edward Hunkeler officiated at the requiem mass. Mr. Sorensen is survived by his wife, two sons, Chris, Sioux City, and Anthony stationed in Africa with the Air Force; six daughters, Mrs. Alex Koch, Wynot, Mrs. H.L. Gartner, Caldwell, ID., Mrs. John Hendriks, Sioux City; Mrs. Ivan Bolenbaugh, Kansas City; Mrs. Louis Lammers, Hartington, and Mrs. H.F. True, Omaha; 40 grandchildren, and 41 great- grandchildren. One son, Herman, preceded him in death. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery of Wynot under the direction of Wintz Mortuary. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Don, Ray, Tony and Bob Koch, Lloyd Sorensen, Iowa City, IA., and Tony McGowan, Dixon. Soren Sorensen was born December 23, 1862 at Jutland, Denmark, the son of Eric Soren and Edgar Christensen. He came to Cedar County from Denmark at the age of 18. He farmed in the Constance and Fordyce Communities before moving to Wynot. He married Elizabeth Helen Bruening, November 8, 1893 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Constance. Others attending the funeral from a distance besides the children were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hegge, Mrs. H.J. Sorensen and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pelecheck of IA., and Mr. and Mrs. Tony McGowan of Dixon.
