Recitation of the rosary was held Thursday, July 5 at 8:30 p.m. in the Mt. Vernon Chapel in West Covina. The mass of Christian burial was held Friday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Covina, Calif. Burial was in River National Cemetery under the direction of Custer-Christenson Mortuary, West Covina. Survivors include the widow, Opal Grace Spork (Nedrow); one sister, Mrs. Marguerite Brigham of Hollywood; two grandchildren, Trisha and David Spork of Cupertino, Calif. John (Jack) was once the owner of Spork Drug Store in Hartington. He served in the Air Force during World War II and at that time sold the drug store to James Buchanan. After the war, the Spork's moved to California where Jack was associated with Abbott Laboratories as a personal representative until his retirement five years ago.
