Visitation was Jan. 17 at Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge. Services were Jan. 18 at the Wintz Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Lamm officiating. Burial was in the Coleridge City Cemetery, Coleridge. Pallbearers were Milton Boysen, Claude Hofeldt, Victor Green, Tim Urwiler, Wayne Seibert and Darrell Hansen. Honorary pallbearers were Max Schamber and Ivan Vitek. Doris was born Jan. 15, 1921, to Robert Earl and Olive (Huston) Simpson in Early, Iowa. She married Jim Sutherland, Aug. 21 1944, in Randolph. He died June 19, 1986. Doris grew up in Early, Iowa, and lived there until her marriage. She lived in Sac City, Iowa, from 1945-48. In 1948, she moved to Laurel. She was a former member of the Country Tuesday Club. Survivors include a son, Robert J. Sutherland, Laurel; a daughter, Mariah (Betty) Sutherland, Seattle, Wash.; and one granddaughter, Annashay Sutherland.
