Visitation was April 5 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Mass of Christian Burial was April 6 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. Stan Schmit officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers were Ron Hochstein, Terry Whitney, Jim Kramer, Dan Kramer, Fred Thoene and Francis Uhing. Irene was born Oct. 24, 1907, to Ludwig and Elizabeth (Sudbeck), Kramer in Bow Valley. She married Albert J. Thoene Dec. 31, 1935, in Bow Valley. He died Oct. 20, 1990. Irene grew up and lived in the Bow Valley and Hartington areas where she and her husband farmed until moving into Hartington in 1980. Irene moved to Yankton, S.D. in June 1998 where she lived with her son, Larry, and daughter-inlaw, Sharon Thoene. She was a former member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bow Valley; a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington; a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, S.D.; and Christian Mothers. Irene enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and loved to bake bread. Survivors include a son and spouse, Larry and Sharon Thoene, Yankton, S.D.; two sisters and their spouses, Doris Ann and Willis Cope, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Lorraine Whitney, Omaha; three sisters-inlaw, Maxine Kramer, Hartington; Agatha Thoene, Hartington; and Pearl Thoene, Omaha; and several nieces and nephews.
