Services were Jan 4, 1999, at the Horan McConaty Chapel, Englewood. Interment was in the Cedar Hills Cemetery, Castle Rock, Colo. Pallbearers were David Candell, Donald Wilson, Ronald Beckman, Jim Van Hazel, Philip Jensen, and Pete James. Mr. Van Hazel was born Aug. 31, 1942, to Henry and Alvina (Heger) Van Hazel in Sioux City Iowa. He attended elementary school near Hartington and graduated from Cedar Catholic High School. He was in the armed services and spent time in Germany. Later he moved to Denver, Colo., where he worked, with air conditioning, and then became an independent coast to coast truck driver. Survivors include two step-daughters, Jo Ellen Jensen, Lakewood, Colo., and Donna Wilson, Caldwell Idaho; one step-son, David Candell, Thornton, Colo.; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by two step-brothers, Jim Van Hazel and Mike Sears; one step-sister, Pat Keller; his mother and step-father, Alvina (Heger) Wilson and Wesley Wilson, Englewood, Colo.; and his father, Henry Van Hazel, Tucson, Ariz.
