Walz Sr. HARTINGTON-Edward A. Walz, Sr., 84, Hartington, died Feb. 26, 2000, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Visitation will be March 1 at Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be March 2 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, at 1:30 p.m, with Rev. William Sanderson offlciating. There will be private family committal at St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington. Military services will be held by Hartington VFW Post #5283. Edward was born March 30, 1915, to Charles Arthur and Maybel (Walsh) Walz in Chicago, Ill. He married Lauretta Gonya Aug. 25, 1951, in Chicago, Ill. She died Jan. 10, 1992. He grew up in Hartington and graduated from Holy Trinity High School. He attended and graduated from Creighton University and was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Bon Homme Richard. e then lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Omaha and Freeport, Ill. He was a s alesman for Prentice Hall and the Eureka Vacuum Co. He moved back to Hartington in 1980. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Ministry of Praise. He was also a member of the Hartington VFW Post #5283. He was a good husband and father and was much loved and will be missed. Survivors include a son and wife, Edward A. Jr. and Deborah Walz, Machesney Park, Ill.; two grandsons, Aaron Walz, Machesney Park, Ill., and Benjamin Walz, Machesney Park, Ill.; a son-in-law, Tim Miller, Elgin, Ill.; one granddaughter, Megan Miller, Elgin, Ill.; one sister, Mary Walz Henry, Lutz, Fla.; and one brother, Jack Walz, Atascadero, Calif.
