Mr. Wohlman was born in Austria on Feb. 28, 1871. He accompanied his parents to America when six years of age. At the age of 25 he came to Cedar county and was married at St. Helena to Miss Mary Wiggins in 1876, the couple homesteading on a farm near Lawn Ridge. They later moved to East Bow near where they resided every since. surviving Mr. Wohlman are his wife, three sons, Joseph, Stephen, and Henry and six daughters, Mrs. Lulu Lill, St. Louis; Mrs. Theresa Wilcox, East Bow; Mrs. Francis Kemp, Canada; Mrs. Julia Putney, East Bow; Mrs. Minnie Dresden, and Mrs. F.J. Hirschman, of Hartington. Awaiting word from the children at a distance funeral arrangements have not been completed. APRIL 11, 1918 HARTINGTON HERALD / CEDAR COUNTY NEWS NOTE ON ABOVE: YEAR OF BIRTH IS A TYPO AS PRINTED ABOVE. cORRECTED SPELLING OF NAMES: THERESA WILLCOX FRANCES KEMP JULIA PUNTNEY DEATH OF ANTON WOHLMAN On Thursday morning, April 11th, occurred the death of Anthony Wohlman, one of the pioneers of Cedar county, at his home seven miles east of Hartington. The cause of death was pneumonia. Mr. Wohlman was born in Austria on Feb. 28, 1847, and came with his parents to America at the age of six years. When a young man, he took up a homestead in Cedar county, and in 1877 he was married at St. Helena to Miss Mary Wiggans, who, with their nine children, is left to mourn. The children are three sons, Joseph, Henry and Steve; and six daughters, Mrs. John Hill of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. V.J. Wilcox of East Bow; Mrs. Geo. Kemp of Humboldt, Canada; Mrs. Will Puntney of East Bow; Mrs. Walter Dresden of East Bow; and Mrs. F.J. Hirschman of Hartington. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Nels Peck of Coleridge, Mrs. Joe Morten of Hartington and Miss Agnes Wohlman, who has made her home with her brother since the death of her mother. The funeral was held from Holy Trinity church on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, and interment was in Calvary cemetery. The funeral was a very large one, testifying to the esteem and respect in which a pioneer citizen had been held. The family circle will have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.
