Albers (Photo) HARTINGTON -- Vera E. Albers, 88, died Jan. 18, 2000, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital Yankton, S.D. Visitation was Jan. 21 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 22 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Monsignor Cyril Werner and Rev. Caig Loecker con- celebrating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jimmy Walker, Kevin Albers, Brian Albers, Chad Nelson, Jeremy Nelson, Todd Albers and Russ Albers. Honorary pallbearers were Donna STev ens, Maxine Kramer, Delores Summers, Ellen Driver, Evelyn McCoy Eleanor Bergman, Gertrude Konz and Gertrude Hochstein. Vera was born Dec. 21, 1911, to Barney J. and Lucy Ann (Riibe) Heitman in Hartington. She married William H. Albers, Nov. 18, 1930, in Menomiee. He died Feb. 13, 1980. Vera grew up and lived in the Fordyce and Menominee. He died Feb. 13, 1980. Vera grew up and lived in the Fordyce and Menominne area before moving to Hartington in 1945. She was employed at the Hartington Nursing Home as a cook, and worked at Globe Clothing in Hartington. She also made wedding cakes and loved spending her time making quilts for her family friends. Vera was member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Christian Mothers, and Holy Trinity's Perpetual Adoration. Survivors include five children and spouse, Rober and Betty Albers, Hartington; Lloyd and Nell Albers, West Union, Iowa; Mary Ellen Walker, Fairfax, Va.; Charles and Janet Albers, Hartington; Margaret Mary "Midge" and Dennis Johnson, Volin, S.D.; 18 grandchildren, 27 great- grandchildren; a brother-in-law and four sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Jeffrey Albers; three sisters and two brothers.
