DEFOREST ALLEN, DAUGHTER OF MR. AND MRS. SAMUEL CASE DIES LAST WEEK In the death of Mrs. DeForest Allen last week, the Pleasant Valley neighborhood lost a devoted mother and neighbor. Her death occurred on Wednesday evening, March 7, following a very brief illness. Mrs. Allen was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Case, prominent residents of that community. She was born in Cedar county between Hartington and Wausa on May 15, 1900 not quite being 23 years old at the time of her death. On September 16, 1918 she was united in marriage to DeForest Allen at the Methodist parsonage in Wausa. To this union three children were born. All of whom with the father survive. They being Mirton Leland, Alta Mardell and Eugen Waverly, the latter being 17 days old at the time of his mother's death. Mrs. Allen is also survived by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Allen was always a strong christian character, and has been the organist for the Pleasant Valley Sunday school which place she always filled faithfully and well, her life being an inspiration for good in the community for which she lived. The funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock last Sunday afternoon, and at the Methodist church in Wausa at three o'clock. Rev. Clarence V Powell was in charge. Music was furnished at the home by the Pleasant Valley Sunday school and at the church by the ladies choir. The body was laid to rest at the Woodlawn cemetery. Those who attended the funeral from a distance were L.T. Allen, Springfield, NE., Mrs. Edit Allen and Roiy Frizpatrick of Weeping Water, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Lee Henegar, Mrs. Amous Wright and Mrs. Stuart Allen of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. John Boik of Beldin and Roy Case of Sioux City, Iowa.
