Arens, 75, Fordyce, died Dec. 15, 1998, at the Hartington Nursing Center, Hartington. Visitation was Dec. 17 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, and at the church prior to services. Funeral services were Dec. 18. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Constance, with Rev. Bob English and Deacon Andrew Steffen officiating. Pallbearers were Ken Lockman, Cyril Wubben, Ron Sudbeck, Greg Dickes, Gary Dickes, Gene Dickes, Lyle Lammers and Tom Stevens. Jerome was born June 1, 1923, to Anthony J. and Margaret (Sudbeck) Arens in Bow Valley. He grew up in the Bow Valley area, and attended Rural District 108 School. He married Rita Ann Hofmaier Jan. 31, 1967. Jerome lived and farmed in the Bow Valley and Fordyce areas his entire life. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Constance. Survivors include his wife, Rita, Fordyce; three children, Vernon, Fordyce; Irene and her husband, Vince Vaughn, Albuquerque, N.M.; and Barb Arens, Omaha; two grandchildren, Zachary Robert and Dominic Jerome Vaughn; four sisters and their spouses, Lorraine Schmidt, St. Helena; Evelyn Koch, Crofton; Janita and Robert Uhing; Niobrara; Delores and Charles Arens, Crofton; four brothers and their spouses, Gerald and Lucille Arens, Crofton; Damian and Helen Arens, Hartington; Dennis and Frances Arens, Hartington; Kenneth and Ruth Arens, Hartington, and many neices and nephews.
