St. James Funeral services for Mrs. Stephen Asbra of near Obert who passed away Monday evening of last week at 8 o’clock Thursday morning at the St. James Church at St. James with Rev. Father Clement Stratman of St. Helena in charge of services in the absence of Father Robert Blum. Interment was in the St. James Cemetery. Death was due to kidney trouble and other complications. Mrs. Asbra who was Miss Mary Bergman was born in Obert in 1885 to Catherine and Philip Bergman. She grew to young womanhood in Obert and 19 years ago was united in marriage to Stephen Asbra and they began housekeeping on a farm near Mr. Asbra’s birth place where they had resided. Mrs. Asbra is survived by her husband, five children, Valerine, Emmet, Kenneth, Mary Ann, and Emma Lou, five sisters, Mrs. Chris Satorius, Obert, Mrs. Albert Hirschman, Hartington, Mrs. Ed Kuehn, Crofton, Mrs. Joe Asbra, east of Hartington, Ben Pearson, Obert, and two brothers, Joe Bergman near Hartington, and Henry Bergman of Mason City. She was preceeded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson and Mrs. Barabara Reifenrath. Pallbearers at the services were six nephews, Glen Bergman, Philip Begrman, Alvin Kuehn, Edward Asbra, and Allen and Arthur Hirschman. Those from out-of town who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Philip Bergman, Mrs. Victor Brown and Mrs. Wilbur Work, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Asbra, and Miss Leona Asbra, all of Sioux City, and H.P. Bergman of Mason City, and Mrs. *Chrysantha Kuehn of Yankton.
