Ausdemore (PHOTO) CROFTON - Bernard C. Ausdemore, 85, died Aug. 3, 2001, at Bloomfield Good Samaritan Center, Bloomfield. Visitation was Aug. 5 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton. Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 6 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crofton, with Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Burial was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Crofton. Pallbearers were Paul Baumert, Brent Kramer, Kent Kool, Chad Loecker, Michael Brower, Jeff Kuhlman, Luke Ausdemore and Travis Samuel. Honorary pallbearers were the Crofton American Legion Post #128. Bernard was born Nov. 13, 1915, to John and Mary (Grovijohn) Ausdemore in crofton. He married Lorene Marie Kohles June 5, 1943, in Brownwood, Texas. He grew up in the Crofton area and attended rural school at Fairview District #95. He graduated from the eighth grade and fulfilled a lifelong dream of a high school education by earning his GED in 1978 at the age of 62. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945. He fought in the "Battle of the Bulge" and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and also received a bronze star. He farmed southwest of Crofton. He retired in 1989 and moved into Crofton. He was also employed by the Knox County A.S.C.S. office for many years and was involved in selling real estate. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church; a lifetime member of Crofton American Legion Post #128; and a Charter lifetime member of the Crofton Lakeview Golf Assn. He served on the Goldenrod Hills Advisory board, on the Crofton High School Board and several church boards for many years. He was an avid baseball fan and a former pitcher for the Crofton Bluejays. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Ausdemore, Crofton; seven daughters and their spouses, Joyce and Mel Baumert, Schuyler; Julie Kramer, Crofton; Carol and David Kloucek, Tabor, S.D.; Mary and Glenn Loecker, Fordyce; Kathie and John Brower, Geneva; Paulette and Don Kuhlman, Bennet; Diane Samuel, Las Cruces, N.M.; a son and his wife: Jan and Barb Ausdemore, San Diego, Calif.; 31 granchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, George Ausdemore, Crofton; and a sister, Catherine Bockholt, Crofton. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John, Otto, Arthur and Paul; and one grandson.
