"Bob" Beacom, 67, Sioux City, Iowa, died April 15, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital. Visitation was April 12 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, Sioux City. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., April 19, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sioux City, with Rev. Kevin M. Richter officiating. Burial, with Military services, will be at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Les Major, Rob Keegan, John Henry Jr., John Henry III, and John Schroeder. Bob was born Nov. 24, 1932, to Thomas A. and Mary (Coleman) Beacom in Hartington. He moved with this family to Sioux City in 1941. He attended Trinity High School and was a member of the first graduating class from Heelan High School in 1950. He married June M. Hupke June 30, 1950, in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956. He was a journeyman electrician and worked for Power Engineering Co. and Thompson Electric Co. from 1956-1970. He went to work for Ebasco Services constructing Port Neal generating plants #2, #3 and #4 for Iowa Public Service. He was employed by Casler Electric during the Marian Health Center construction project. He had taught electrical apprenticeship courses at the Central High Annex and instructed apprentice electricians in electric theory, national electric code and field practice for WIT at the Mapleton, Iowa, campus. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #231 and had served as president. He was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, genealogy, history and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, June, Sioux City, Iowa; two daughters, Kathy Henry and her husband, John, Hasting, Minn.;' Mary Beth Keegan and her husband, Robert, Sioux City, Iowa; one son Robert E. Beacom Jr. and his wife, Karen, Sioux City, Iowa; two sisters, Veronica Finnegan, Chicago, Ill., and Mary Clare Schumacher, Sioux City, Iowa; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant children, Kevin and Annette; one brother, Jack; and five sisters, Bernice, Frances, and Anastacia Beacom, Rose Kneifl and Jody Schroeder.
