Grain, Belden. Visitation was March 5, 2000, at the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge. A prayer service was held later that evening at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge. Funeral services were March 6, 2000, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, with Rev. Norman Sulaica officiating. Burial was in Trondhjem Lutheran Cemetery, Volin, S.D. Pallbearers were Mark Bullington, Todd Dvoracek, Keith Dvoracek, Chad Christensen, Chris Herrig, Jeff Ebberson, Brian Ebberson and Shane Hauger. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Bullington, Lance and Hondo Miller, Troy and Melissa Herrig, Nicole Schinzing, Jennifer Mossey, Robin Anchor, Jackie Dvoracek, Melinda Ebberson, Amy and Alicia Hauger, Lisa Christopherson and Amy Johnson. Donald was born August 17, 1949, to Peter H. and Aves (Aune) Christensen in Yankton, S.D. On June 20, 1975, he married Rita J. Peterson, in Rural Vlin, S.D. He grew up in the Utica, S.D. area and graduated from Yankton High School in 1967. He worked for the Utica Lumber and Grain Co. for over 20 years. He also worked on the family farm for his parents in the Utica and Volin area. Donald and Rita moved to Coleridge in 1989, where he worked for Circle E. Feedlot in Belden for the past ten years as feedlot manager. He served as a deacon of the Trondhjem Lutheran Church for several years, the Coleridge Fire Department from 1991-1998, and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge since 1989. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his horse. He loved life and always lived it to his fullest. Survivors include: his wife, Rita, Belden; two children: Jill Christensen, Omaha; and Ryan Christensen, Belden; his mother, Aves Christensen, Yankton, S.D.; his mother and father-in-law, Gordon and Hazel Miller, Brookings, S.D.; a brother and spouse, David and Julaine Christensen, Omaha; four sisters and spouses: Joanne and Dave Dvoracek, Springfield, S.D.; Delores and Rich Herrig, Brookings, S.D.; Terry and Craig Ebberson, Coleridge; Marlene and Larry Hauger, Utica, S.D.; several cousin, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, an infant brother, Russell Paul, one nephew Matthew Dvoracek and his grandparents.
