Collins, 96, Norfolk, formerly of Bow Valley, died Feb. 1, 2000, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk. Visitation was Feb. 3 at Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 4, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bow Valley, With Rev. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Burial was held in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Bow Valley. Pallbearers were Steve Schnieders, Roger Schnieders, Dan Schnieders, Jeff Wortmann, Jim Wortmann, and Arnie Arens. Irene was born July 12, 1903, to John and Barbara (Bonertz) Schnieders, in Hartington. She married Albert B. Collins in Long Beach, Calif. He died April 25, 1948. She grew up in the Bow Valley area and then moved to Long Beach, Calif. Shortly after her husband's death, she moved to the North Platte area. She returned to the Bow Valley area in the early 1960's and lived with her brother and sister, Edward Schnieders and Julianna Weinandt. In 1969, they moved to Fremont. She has been a resident of the St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Norfolk since 1992. Survivors include one daughter and spouse, Barbara and Robert Wortmann, Norfolk; four grandchildren, Lori Sunderman, Norfolk; Lisa Wortmann, Norfolk, Sara Wortmann, Somis, Calif., and Jeff Wortmann, Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. Herb (Adeline) Fischer, Sioux City, Iowa; three brothers, Ralph Schnieders, Mallard, Iowa; Clair Schnieders, Cozad; and Paul Schnieders, Randolph. She was preceeded in death by her parents; husband, one grandson, Paul Wortmann, five brothers, William, Hugo, Donald, Edward, and Lester Schnieders, and four sisters, Rita, Anna and Amalia Schnieders, and Julianna Weinandt.
