He had been seriously ill since last Octboer 15 when he suffered a light stroke. Funeral services for Mr. Dreesen were held Tuesday morning at St. Catherine's Catholic church in East Bow. Rev. Vaclav Kovar officiated at the requiem mass and burial was in St. Michael's cemetery in Hartington under the direction of Wintz Mortuary. Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Duane, Darrell, LeRoy, LaVoyne, Edwin and Richard Dreesen. Mr. Dreesen is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Anthony Dendinger of Laurel; three sons, Frederick of Hartington, Elmo of Laurel, and Otis of Coleridge; 20 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. A resident of Cedar county nearly 78 years, Mr. Dreesen came here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Dreesen, in October 1873, from Wisconsin, where he was born March 28, 1870. The family located in the East Bow community where Mr. Dreesen lived most of his life. He was married September 18, 1893, to Miss Maude J. Suing of Hartington at Holy Trinity church. Mrs. Dreesen died January 9, 1931. Mr. Dreesen, the last member of a family of eight brothers and sisters, had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Dreesen the past twenty years. Relatives and friends from out-of-town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Agnes Kneifl and sons of Newcastle; Mrs. Harold Meyer of Ponca; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Dreesen of Wakonda, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Becker and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Happe of Yankton; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harbeck, jr., of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Davis and family of Council Bluffs, Ia.; and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hahn of Lindsay. 1950 Cedar County News
