This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== CEDAR COUNTY NEWS OCTOBER 26, 1922 AGED RESIDENT DIES AT WYNOT SUNDAY FRED FISCHER, A RESIDENT OF THE COUNTY FOR NEARLY FIFTY YEARS, PASSES ON Fred Fischer, a prominent resident of Wynot and for nearly fifty years a resident of Cedar County, passed away at his home in Wynot last Sunday evening at the age of nearly 76 years, following an illness of about two weeks. Mr. Fischer was born in Bronburg, Germany on December 25, 1846. He was called for military service when he was twenty years of age, but believing that America offered greater opportunities he came to this country in 1870. The trip was made in a sailing vessel and took seven weeks. After reaching America, Mr. Fischer first settled in Wisconsin. There he was married in 1872 to Miss Louise Kramer. to his union eight children were born, four of them surviving their father. In 1876 he came to Cedar County, buying the old home place of Henry Thoene. Another home was built in 1908 near the old homestead and in 1915 he moved to Wynot. Mr. Fischer is survived by three sons, John, Edward, and Bernard and a daughter Mrs. Joe Noecker, all of whom live in the Bow Valley neighborhood. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Wynot Catholic Church, Rev. Nosblisch being in charge. Interment was in the Bow Valley Cemetery.
