Visitation was May 6 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Mass of Christian Burial was May 7 at Holy Family Catholic Church (Sts. Peter and Paul), Bow Valley, with Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating. Burial was in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Bow Valley. Pallbearers were Timothy Lambrecht, Michael Lambrecht, David Wight, Gary Giese, Todd Giese and Paul Giese. Helen was born May 27, 1910, to John and Bernadine (Noecker) Rameil, in Manhattan, N.Y. She married Bernard Giese Oct. 14, 1930, in Bow Valley. He died March 26, 1990. Helen lived most of her life in Bow Valley. She also lived in Rockford, Ill., from 1967-1988, returning home to Bow Valley in 1988. She and her husband owned and operated the Bow Valley Store from 1932-1967. She worked as a nurse's assistant in Hartington and while living in Rockford, Ill. She was a gifted painter in her young adult years, leaving behind many of her treasured paintings. She was a wonderful cook, known for her meatloaf, potato salad, pot roast and lemon meringue pie. She blessed her family with her delightful sense of humor and spirited independence. She was a member of Holy Family Cahtolic Church (Sts. Peter and Paul) and the Christian Mothers. Survivors include a son and spouse, Aaron and Gloria Giese, Yankton, S.D.; a daughter and spouse, Cela Mae and LeRoy Lambrecht, Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Timothy and Sylvia Lambrecht, Mosinee, Wis.; Michael and Rebecca Lambrecht, Weston, Ill.; Debra Sullivan, Rapid City, S.D.; Gary and Jody Giese, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Lisa and David Wight, Rockton, Ill.; Todd Giese, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Paul and Debra Giese, Sioux Falls, S.D.; four great-grandchildren, Mellissa Sullivan, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Michael, Mark and Corey Lambrecht, Mosinee, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sylvia Ann; and brother, Alphonse Rameil.
