THOMAS, Editor, YANKTON PRESS & DAKOTAN ====================================================================== YANKTON PRESS & DAKOTAN HOLD RITES FOR SAMUEL GREGG HERE TUESDAY APRIL 9, 1942 Samuel Grant Gregg, 81, long time resident of Yankton, died in Yankton hospital Friday morning. Mr. Gregg was born in Harrison Co., Ia, May 13, 1860. Funeral services were held in the Elmore Funeral home Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Bluffview cemetery, Vermillion. Mr. Gregg married Ivy Ketchum. On January 1, 1888 he married Mary Brown in Vermillion, Sd., He is survived by the widow, six sons, George in the armed forces, Raymond of Vermillion, John, Clarence, Oder of Yankton and Jess of Wynot. Twenty-five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Obituary April 10, 1942 SAMUEL G. GREGG Samuel G. Gregg, a resident of Yankton community for the past 30 years died April 3, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. He had been in failing health for several years, but attained the age of 81 years. Samuel Gregg was born May 13, 1861 in Harrison Co., Missouri. During his childhood the family moved to Woodbury county, Iowa and resided near the town of Salix. He grew to manhood in that community moving from there to Wynot, Nebraska. Samuel Gregg and Mary Brown met and were married at Vermillion, SD. Later they lived in the Wynot, NE area. They moved from there to Yankton county which had been their home every since. Surviving Mr. Gregg are his widow and six sons, Jess of Wynot, Ray of Vermillion, George of Fort Lawton, Wash., Clarence, Oder and John of Yankton; one daughter, Goldie Sheperdson of Kelso, Wash. Funeral services were held at the Elmore Funeral Home in Vermillion and interment was in the Bluff View Cemetery at that place. Pallbearers were John Gray, Lester Gray, Lloyd Gray, Harold Mount, Loyal Brown and Ralph Iverson.
