Gubbels HARTINGTON - Raymond J. Gubbels, 89, Hartington, died June 26, 2001, at Parkview Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge Visitation was held June 28 at Holy Trinity Catholic Chruch, Hartington, with a scripture and rosary service held later that evening. Mass of Christian Burial was June 29 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with Rev. David Korth officiating. Burial was at St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington, with military graveside rites by Hartington VFW Post #5283. Pallbearers were Scott Gubbels, Troy Gubbels, Tom Gubbels, LaMont Sohler, Kenny Neuhalfen, and Mick Christensen. Raymond was born June 3, 1912, to Peter and Mary (Meyer) Gubbels in Hartington. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the United States Navy. He married Dorothy Seim March 27, 1945. Raymond farmed and, in addition, worked for RaDec Construction and Jordan Oil. For years, he did a perpetual adoration hour at church. He is survived by one son and his wife: David and Kay Gubbels, Hartington; a brother, Martin Gubbels, Sioux City, Iowa; three sisters, Irene Solberg, Norfolk; Marie and her husband, Don Lammers, Hartington; and Margaret and her husband, Leonard Korth, Randolph; five grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents; grandparents, Theodore and Emma Meyer and JOhn and Elizabeth Gubbels; grandson, Donny; granddaughter, Paul; four brothers, Casper Gubbels, Cyril Gubbels, Louise Gubbels and Francis Gubbels; and three sisters, Veronica Neuhalfen, Dorothy Gubbels and Delores Nissen.
