THE CEDAR COUNTY NEWS -   Nov 11, 1976


Services for Mary Guenther, 84, of Fordyce, were held at 10:30 A.M. 
Monday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at Fordyce with burial 
in the parish cemetery. Rev. Jerome Spenner officiated.

Mrs. Guenther, the former Mary Foxhoven, was born July 4,1892 at St. 
Bernard, Nebr. near Creighton, Nebr. to Bartel and Wilhelmina 
(Neimeier) Foxhoven.  She died Friday in a Yankton, S.D. hospital.  
She married Ferdinand Guenther October 12, 1915 at Crofton, Nebr.  
They farmed in the Crofton area and moved to Fordyce in 1961.  Mr. 
Guenther died April 23, 1968.

Survivors include five sons, Fred of South Yankton, John of Wynot, 
Joseph of Sioux City, Ia.  Clarence of Bloomfield and Albert of 
Norfolk; five daughters, Mrs. Ted (Catherine) Dreismeier and Mrs. 
Victor (Elizabeth) Hames, both of Crofton, Mrs. Anthony (Mary) 
Steffen of St. Helena, Mrs. Rudolph (Anna) Wortmann and Mrs. Roman 
(Roseline) Burbach, both of Hartington; one sister, Kate Foxhoven 
of Norfolk; brothers, Antone of Crofton and Joseph of Mapleton, Ia;  
68 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister and four brothers.

Pallbearers were Donovan Burbach, Eugene and Kevin Guenther, Mark 
Dreismeier, Loren Wortmann and Gerald Hames.  The Wintz Funeral 
Home handled the arrangements.
