Services were July 26 at Riverside United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael Shaffer officiating. Burial was in Graceland Park Cemetery, with graveside rites conducted by Air Guard 185th of Sioux; City. Mr. Guy was born May 15, 1923, to Elmer and Dorothy (Hammond) Guy at Stevens (North Sioux City), S.D. He moved to Elk Point, S.D., as a child and attended Elk Point schools. He married Gladys Conley Jan. 11, 1947, in Sioux City. He served with the United States Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Tennessee where he saw action in 10 major battles. He worked for various packing companies, retiring from Swift and Company in 1971. He also operated several private businesses after retiring, and was employed as a security guard at WIT for six years. He retired from WIT in 1989. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, and the VFW. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Lynda and Frank Blachnik, Sioux City, Iowa; three sons and their wives, Carl Jr. and Bonita, Rick and Deanna, and Ronnie and Colleen all of Sioux City, Iowa; five sisters, Jean and Neill Barnes, South Sioux City; Leota and Fred Goreham, South Sioux City; Geri and Frank Opp, Garden Grove, Calif.; Darlene and Wayne Shanks, South Sioux City, and Doris Wagner, Sioux City, Iowa; two special friends; Gary Brown and Audrey Massey; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and cousins, Ray and Marjorie Guy, Hartington; and Vernon Guy, Wakefield.
