Heimes (PHOTO) HARTINGTON - Ignatius A. Heimes, 95, died Dec. 21, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare Hartington. Visitation was Dec. 22 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 23 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. William Sanderson officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers were Paul Smith, Chris Andrews, Gerry Uhing, Melvin Heimes, Dennis Heimes, Glenn Kathol, Neil Heimes and Clayton Heimes. Honorary pallbearers were Ike and Bernice Stratman, Louis "Buster" and Albe Forinash, Clarence and Rosemary Kohls, and Edgar and Viola Becker. Ignatius was born Jan. 28, 1905, to Anton and Frances (Hochstein) Heimes in Bow Valley. He married Jeanette Kuehn June 1, 1933, in Fordyce. He grew up and farmed northwest of Wynot until he moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1957. In Phoenix, he worked as a painter and was very active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He returned to Hartington in 1981. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed cards, bowling and square dancing. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Heimes, Hartington; five children and spouses, Kenneth and Kay Heimes, Boone, Iowa; Joyce and James Donohoe, Dallas, Texas; Dean and Bonnie Heimes, Lee Summit, Mo.; Leah and Joseph Smith, Yankton, S.D.; Gail and Francis Uhing, Wynot; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Hubert Heimes, Coleridge; and a sister and husband, Ursula and Ralph Kathol, Hartington. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Victor, Adolph and Augustine Heimes; and five sisters, Josephine Heimes, Pauline Heimes, Sister Elaine Heimes, Sister Francis Ursula Heimes, and Regina Heimes.
