Herbolsheimer, 78, Pierce, died Jan. 12. 1999, at Faith Regional Health Services West Campus. Services were Jan. 15. 1999, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pierce. Burial was at St. John's Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rollan Aubert, William Herbolsheimer, Robert Herbol- sheimer, Mike Herbolsheimer, Tom Meyer and Darin Schellenberg. Harlan was born Jan. 1, 1921, to Ludwig and Lena (Breyer) Herbolsheimer in Pierce. He graduated from Pierce High school in 1938. He married Lennis Schellenberg June 5, 1946 in Pierce. He farmed in both Wayne and Pierce counties, and he worked for Houska Construction. In 1959, they moved to Pierce and in 1961, he had his own construction crew. He continued in construction until 1971, when he became Pierce County Assessor. This job he held for 16 years until he retired. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Pierce. He held many church offices and was groundskeeper for many years. Survivors are his wife, Lennis, Pierce, two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Jeanette) Wulf, Pierce; and Mrs. Tom (Dy Ann) Altwine, Kearney; six grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Fredrickson, Wayne; and Lyleth Meyer, Pierce; four brothers, Gerhardt Herbolsheimer, Wakefield, Eldon Herbolsheimer, Pierce; Lyle Herbolsheimer, Tilden; and Louis Herbolsheimer, Hartington. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
